Tempest; Without a Body is a masterful performance illustrating the post 9/11 world with a frighteningly beautiful, yet poetic and poignant approach. First staged in 2007 at the Vienna Festival, this combination of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, tripled with the authentic style of movement from the MUA dancers, and the final touches of Maori activist Tame Iti, is a piece to be truly appreciated through the strength of the message it projects.
Combined through dance, art and oratory, the depiction of an angel with a broken soul and crumpled wings, partaking on a journey through landscapes of destruction to pray through the ruins of history, is a forceful iteration guaranteed to leave an impression.
