THE INSPIRATIONAL SYDNEY EDMONDS

Her name is Sydney Edmond and she is taking the world by storm as she inspires others through her courage and plight. She suffers from Autism yet she has not let that stop her in her tracks as she has slowly began to communicate her thoughts in poetic form.
At seventeen years of age Sydney has printed her first book of poetry “The Purple Tree and other poems”, showcasing her talent as a writer and he passion at being able to fulfil a dream through her determination and courage.
You only have to read Sydney’s poetry to be encouraged by her words and to begin to really appreciate what we have before us in a world where others endure struggle and cannot communicate or move freely due to their bodies not having the muscle control that enables them to walk, talk, and do many of life’s daily tasks with ease. She is a true inspiration with a creative streak that has allowed her to stand out above the rest and reach a goal that seemed so far away.

Today, we are wishing each other wishes for a bright future.
I wish you well, each and every one of you.
Tearfully, I say goodbye to a school that has allowed me to learn,
Treating me like all the others.
I want to wish
Really wish,
Open-armed,
Eagerly and earnestly,
That you rally together and change the world.
We can create a world that is accepting of differences;
One that is kind,
And one to be proud of.
Yes, I try to trespass in your classrooms to show you
We are not so different.
You thought I took your place,
Instead, I took my place among you.
You thought I took your place,
Instead, I showed you I belong.
Watch me soar beside you,
Watch me tackle,
Watch me war,
With my silent enemy.
I am autistic.
But, what of it ?
You have your battles, too.
Let’s fight our war together;
Like soldiers, let’s unite.
Think of me as your brother,
And plan to win the fight.
Popular trend is for people to separate us;
Popular trends put a wedge between us.
But we can come together and turn it around:
Sowing the seeds of Compassion and Love,
And reaping the rewards of Kindness, Patience, and Peace.
